15. Juni Fonden: nature as a resource in healthcare

not a box is supporting 15. Juni Fonden in developing and facilitating a flagship initiative to integrate nature as a systemic part of the Danish healthcare system.

Approach
Historically, nature played a central role in the treatment of both physical and mental illness. With the rise of biomedical approaches, this connection has faded.

In recent years, however, there has been renewed interest in reintegrating nature as an active component in health and care – aligning with 15. Juni Fonden’s ambition to create a flagship initiative for nature and mental well-being.

The ambition is to make nature a recognised and active element in health promotion – not as an add-on, but as an integrated part of future care. not a box has provided a framework and knowledge base for the foundation’s grant decision, and will act as a central facilitating partner in the implementation process.

Impact
The process includes workshops aimed at shaping a national framework rooted in research and practical implementation. Through dialogue formats and pilot activities, we mobilise both established and emerging actors to co-create a scalable, long-term initiative.

Following a considerable grant from the foundation, the project will move into its implementation phase from autumn 2025 – with more partners set to join the coalition.
